Dress Bespoke Darcy
A country wedding weekend set on the outskirts of idyllic Bath was host to Anna & Tom’s wedding day. The family affair had a vintage feel with mismatched bridesmaids in blue and a classic Fiat 500. The Queen Anne neckline and 3/4 length sleeves of the Darcy dress fitted Anna’s wedding perfectly, finished with a bespoke open keyhole back.
Tell us a little about the inspiration for your wedding day
We always knew that we wanted to get married over a weekend at a hotel near Bath, Lucknam Park, which is very special to my family. It has a beautiful rose garden and courtyard, as well as a long driveway, so we planned to be outdoors for the ceremony and reception. We also knew that we wouldn’t be able to predict the weather in the UK, especially in September, so a venue that had equally as beautiful interiors was a must. As it turns out, the sun was shining and we were basked in warmth all day, meaning we could have the wedding we dreamed of outside.
What made you choose the Darcy dress?
I didn’t want to worry about my arms, so I started looking for wedding dresses with sleeves. Darcy was the third dress I tried on at Sassi Holford’s London flagship store, with my maid of honour Lottie, and I immediately felt so comfortable. It was structured with ¾ sleeves, and a lovely sweetheart neckline, but very breathable and easy to move around in. The train was also beautiful, and not too long, but fanned out into a lovely circle behind me. The veil I later found, complemented the train perfectly and fell so elegantly alongside. I also tried on Lauren and absolutely loved the open back. I had never really thought about an open back (or my back!), but my stylist gave me the option of combining the keyhole back with the Darcy dress, and I loved the refreshing and looser feeling!
How was your Sassi Holford wedding dress shopping experience?
I was amazed by how comfortable I felt throughout the whole process and how I immediately felt comfortable, and beautiful, in all the dresses I tried on. I couldn’t recommend these beautiful dresses enough, and am so thankful for how smooth and stress-free the process was. I came away feeling incredible after every visit, and it made me so excited for our wedding.
What advice would you give to brides shopping for their wedding dress?
Enjoy it and if you want, bring different people each time. There are so many stressful parts of organising a wedding but choosing a dress and going to the fittings was so fun and so special. My mum, sister and some of my bridesmaids came with me, and each time was more special than the last, trying on veils, headbands and discussing shoes that would match the dress.
