Mhairi and Alex married in the picturesque surroundings of Carrick Castle located in Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park on Scotland’s West Coast. With family scattered around the country, the couple chose a venue that would allow both of their immediate family to stay for the whole weekend. With the help of their loved ones, they decorated the barn the day before with bunting, lights and flowers.
Mhairi looked stunning wearing Sassi Holford Emily from the latest collection, Asteria. It was fate that Mhairi wore Emily as it arrived at Anne Priscilla just as she went into the changing room.
What made you choose a Sassi Holford gown?
I tried on a few dresses at a couple of appointments but hadn’t felt that excited about any of them. During my last appointment at Anne Priscilla they had just received a brand new delivery of Sassi’s Asteria collection and my stylist was sure I would love Emily. She was unboxing dresses the minute they came into the shop to find it whilst I was in the dressing room. As soon as I put it on I knew it was “the one”. It felt like fate, my mum teared up and I felt so classic and elegant in it. I know I’ll look back in years to come and always love it.
What was the main inspiration behind your wedding?
The pandemic put everything into perspective for us and we just wanted a simple but traditional day with our love ones. My husband is English and I am Scottish so we had a mixture of thistles, heather, white roses and lavender to represent both sides of the family. In typical Scottish fashion it rained most of the day so I donned some wellie boots and a tartan shawl and we drove up into the hills to take advantage of the Scottish scenery for our pictures.
What was your favourite moment from the day?
The whole day was heightened for us because we didn’t think it would happen with the restrictions and it was the first big event that any of our guests had been to in a year. When the bagpipes started to lead me, my dad and the bridal party to the barn where the ceremony was it was incredibly atmospheric. Walking down the aisle in my dress was a moment I’ll never forget.
