Garments With A Conscience

We have always had a strong ethos when it comes to looking after the planet and ensuring the process of creating our bridal gowns and ready-to-wear collections are as eco-friendly as possible.

For us, it’s not a trend, it’s a way of life, which flows through every aspect of our brand. Responsibility in the fashion industry has been the cornerstone of the business from the very start; in fact, Sassi herself has been making her gowns and her ready to wear pieces, here in England for over 40 years. Keeping the production line as local as possible minimises our carbon footprint, along with sourcing our fabrics from the UK or Europe, we have also partnered with a charity that plants trees to offset the carbon emissions we do make; meaning every part of the
journey, from designing, to making the final piece, is carefully considered and respectful to the planet. We create garments with a conscience and we’re keen to show you just how we do that in the day to day running of Sassi Holford along with some of the amazing partners we work with.

Recycle and Reuse
There is approximately 92 million tons of textile waste created by the fashion industry each year. We knew we wanted to contribute as little as possible to this, so we started exploring ways of
recycling and reusing our by-products. By working with like-minded partners, businesses, fashion schools and charities we have come up with innovative ways of making sure any spare material is given a new lease of life. Phoebe English is an incredible British designer who uses our waste fabrics and off-cuts and turns them into stunning sustainable garments. And it’s not only clothing that gets made from our offcuts; Lulu is a brand that creates beautiful bridal accessories, continuing on our passion for sustainability in the wedding industry.
We are proud partners of the wonderful charity Inner Wheel, where we supply our highest quality silk offcuts, who then turn them in to comfort pillows for breast cancer patients. We also want to support the future generation of fashion designers, and send waste textiles to fashion colleges and our cardboard tubes and smaller offcuts to local primary schools, helping to instil the values of responsibility to our planet, right at the start of their journey. One of our goals is to become carbon neutral by 2030, something we are passionate and motivated about. As well as our 2030 goal; over the next three years we aim to reduce plastic use by 50% and ensure we recycle 80% of our waste.

Made-To-Order
We know how important it is to feel confident in your Sassi Holford wedding dress; that is why all of our bridal gowns and ready-to-wear collections are made to order. This not only means they are made especially for you, but it also greatly reduces waste the waste we produce. All of our garments are exquisitely made here in England, in our Somerset atelier, keeping our carbon footprint low and also supporting local industry.

Slow Fashion
Slow fashion is when clothes are produced through a process that considers all aspects of the supply chain, with the aim of respecting people, the environment and animals. It is the polar
opposite of ‘fast fashion’ which can involve low paid workers, large amounts of waste and disposable garments. We’re proud to say that all of our garments follow the slow fashion process
and have done from the start. The entire process from start to finish is as responsible as we can possibly make it. From being hand made here in the UK by talented artisans, to using fabrics sourced as close to home as possible, as well as sustainable materials themselves.

Considered Pieces
Our ready-to-wear collections are sustainable fashion done right. All of our pieces are considered and made to order, and we keep the collections small to minimise any waste or by-products.
Sassi creates timeless, investment pieces that will work hard in your wardrobe and help you create a multitude of functional, stylish outfits. Our aim is to get you to ‘buy better, buy less’
meaning you make more fashion investments and waste less time on fast fashion pieces that won’t last longer than one occasion. Clothes shopping can sometimes feel overwhelming with so
much choice; which is why we’ve created clothes with an ageless style, that will work with many of the pieces you already own and last you for many years and many occasions.

So as you can see, your wedding day or dream capsule wardrobe, doesn’t have to have a negative impact on the environment. You can be safe in the knowledge that when you choose a
garment from Sassi Holford, whether that’s your dream wedding dress, or the perfect classic white shirt, you have chosen a brand committed to being a responsible part of the wider industry.
