Describe The Style of your wedding

The style of our wedding was ‘laidback elegance’, in keeping with the feel of our venue, Sibton Park, which is in the heart of the beautiful Suffolk countryside. Suffolk is a very special place to us, home to both of our families, so we wanted this to shine through all parts of the day – from local Adnams beer served off the back of a Land Rover, through to our ‘Suffolk in Spring’ food menu which only used ingredients sourced within a 25 mile radius. The beautiful spring weather even brought some adorable newborn lambs which roamed in the grounds around us – the perfect backdrop!

How was Your Wedding dress journey?

I started my wedding dress journey in London, visiting two well-known boutiques with my mum in one day. Having seen many an episode of ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ over the years, I was realistic that my journey probably wouldn’t be quite so dramatic, but I was left overwhelmed by choice and underwhelmed by the impersonal shopping experience. My mum suggested we try Amelia & Alice on Woodbridge Market Hill, just a stone’s throw away from her house, and I was immediately attracted to their selection of luxury British designers, Sassi Holford included. As soon as I stepped into the store and met Sharon, who looked after us, I felt at ease. I spent hours looking at different options and Sharon never rushed us or tried to force a decision – it was more like chatting with an old friend!

Why the Saskia?

As soon as I saw this dress on the hanger, I was immediately drawn to its timeless elegance and effortlessness, but also the luxurious, silk finish and lining that made it that extra bit special. It felt very ‘me’ and in keeping with the overall feel we were trying to create for the wedding – I also knew Matt would love it!

Advice to brides shopping for their wedding dress

With so much choice and so many expectations, wedding dress shopping can be an overwhelming process, so I would say avoid researching too much online (something I can be very guilty of!). You really can’t get a proper sense of how the dress will look and feel on from photos alone – the dress I ended up choosing was one of the few I’d never seen before! I would also say that it helps to stay true to your vision – you will probably try on several beautiful dresses, but being clear on what really feels like you can make the decision that bit easier!
