After several postponements and date changes, we are delighted to finally share Amie and George’s magical Ibiza wedding. Amie looked absolutely beautiful wearing Sassi Holford Ottilie in the stunning surroundings of the Morna Valley. Amie shares her top tips for brides-to-be and her wonderful Sassi Holford wedding dress journey.

Tell us about your Sassi Holford wedding dress journey…
I first came across Sassi Holford when I visited Francesca at The Wedding Gallery. I instantly fell in love with the classic styling, flattering lines and the modern but fairy tale feel to all the dresses I tried on. They were the opposite of what I thought I would fall in love with, but from the moment I tried on the first dress my mum was in tears and I knew then that the brand was for me.
I went away and did more research and found Ottilie online. She was in stock at the Sassi Holford flagship store on the Fulham Road so my mum, sister, bridesmaid, and I headed down there at the first appointment I could get. I knew it was ‘the one’ as soon as I saw it. Amrita and Sanda were there throughout my dress journey, which included three wedding date changes due to the pandemic and multiple fittings to get it just right. For me, it is all about the fit and it had to be absolutely perfect. Amrita made it so and she was very patient, kind and instantly understood what I was looking for, even when I wasn’t sure myself. I also had an appointment with Sassi herself which made the process so special. The day I finally collected my dress I saw that Francesca had started working at Sassi Holford – it was like a full circle. I will always be thankful for her vision when we first met, she knew before me that I was a Sassi Holford bride.
Wearing the dress on the day was the ultimate fairy tale. Our wedding was in Ibiza so I was a little hot, but I really didn’t care. It was unforgettable and brought a touch of classic English countryside to the White Isle.
What was the inspiration for your wedding?
We always knew it had to be Ibiza; it was the place where George had asked me to be his girlfriend and then to be his wife 5 years later. I had always dreamt of an English countryside wedding but George likes very modern styling, white and clean lines. I love classic styling, full of romance and beautiful wild blooms. So, we combined the two. We found a villa in the Morna Valley – the building itself was dramatic, modern and linear – surrounded by olive trees, stunning forests and even one of two peacocks. We made sure that the flowers were delicate, pretty and romantic but the wedding stationery from Vine in The Wild was minimalist, paired back and contemporary. We played with juxtapositions throughout, which was a risk, but thankfully it worked. The end result meant we both had the wedding day we had envisioned.
What advice would you give to brides-to-be?
My top three tips would be:
- Invest in a wedding planner! Ame Luxury Events worked with me to bring my vision to life but most importantly they thought of things I never would have, which on the day were so important. I also had a wedding planner on the ground in Ibiza called Kristiina from Pure Events, she was close to all the local suppliers and was essential during the multiple changes during the pandemic.
- Be quick with your photos! You don’t need more than 15 minutes away from your friends and family, which my photographer Stephanie Shenton was completely on board with, and we agreed the shots we needed ahead of time. It is especially important for an abroad wedding as you don’t want to be standing still posing in the heat for long. Also, enjoy it, be the ultimate show off and listen to your photographer even when you think they’re a bit mad. The photos where I felt I looked like an idiot are the ones that came out the best!
- Finally, spend time finding the right DJ! We chose Martin 2 Smoove and he was just incredible. The party was euphoric, and he had the entire wedding party on the dance floor from start to finish.
What was your favourite moment from your wedding day?
This is hard but as a bride I think it has to be walking down the aisle. I had dreamt of that moment my entire life, even more so during the pandemic and it was what I envisaged every time it got a bit tough. So, on the wedding day when it actually happened, I felt like I was floating above my body. I was so overwhelmed and excited to get down the aisle that I completely forgot to take my wedding bouquet! But it was magical none the less, walking down, hand in hand with my dad towards the love of my life, George. Our best friend married us which was incredibly special, and the readings were perfect. My mum read ‘A Parent’s Tribute’ which had everyone in tears. I highly recommend it for any wedding!
