Sassi and Luby worked closely together to design her dream dress, with its corseted bodice and romantic puff sleeves, and in turn inspired the entire wedding day. At first the couple envisioned a luxury Italian wedding, however after seeing Sassi’s final sketch Luby set about adding organic and green hues with a whimsical feel to their venue in Hampshire’s South Downs. Their venue offered them a completely hands on approach and Luby was able to choose suppliers that she knew and trusted from working in the industry. Luby was keen for a touch of Italian style to still be a part of their big day. Twilight Trees, where Luby is Art & Events Director, created the Olive Collection and they transformed the British countryside into a Mediterranean style landscape.

Tell us a little about the inspiration for your wedding day
The wedding was whimsical and romantic whilst simultaneously being luxurious and dramatic. The dress was reminiscent of Jane Austen and Marie Antoinette and so local wildflowers and heritage stems were sourced to bring a wildly abundant richness. The luxury and the drama was brought by oversized bottles of Champagne, lavish elements of styling and a whole collection of intricately created Twilight Trees.
What were your wedding day non-negotiables?
Even though the style was rustic it had to be stylish. It was a highly styled and polished version of rustic with carefully considered elements and special touches.
Did you always know what you wanted your wedding dress to look like?
I didn’t but I always knew that it wasn’t going to be a ready-to-wear gown. It just so happened that I fell in love with certain elements of Sassi’s Verity dress and in particular its textured silk and so I decided to approach her with my vision. Twilight Trees had been working with Sassi for years and it was great to have the opportunity to work with her as a bride!
What was it like to create a bespoke gown with the help of the Sassi Holford team?
During our consultation, Sassi and I played with elements of the dresses I had fallen in love with. Once we had the framework in place, we focused on making sure the gown reflected my personality and style through unique details.
The dress was an expression of my true self. The fact that Sassi got this completely was nothing short of miraculous. It just goes to show that the whole team are true professionals and the very best at what they do. If you are thinking about having a bespoke gown made, this service is priceless and is something I will never forget.
If you could go back and relive one part of your wedding again, what would it be?
There’s no moment individually but after months of planning, it was seeing all the little moments come together.
